Traveling while in Chicago:

By Train or Bus:

If planning to get around the city by public transportation these trip planning tools may help:
The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) coordinates operation of the three service providers: the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra, and Pace.

The CTA handles public transportation in the city by bus and train. Both airports are served by the CTA. Service is available 24 hours a day.

Metra operates commuter rail service in Chicago and its suburbs. The Metra Electric Line shares the railway with the South Shore Line's NICTD Northern Indiana Commuter Rail Service, providing commuter service between South Bend and Chicago.

Pace provides bus service in the surrounding suburbs with some extensions into the city.

By Taxi:

The two main cab companies in Chicago are Checker Cab and Yellow Cab, and you can hire one just by calling T-A-X-I-C-A-B, or 312-829-4222.
If you're scheduling a pick-up, make sure to tell them your name and the time you need to be picked up. It's also important to call half an hour before pickup time to make sure that there are no misunderstandings.
