Welcome to the
Current Middle Ages!
The Shire of Castell Gwent is a branch of the Society for
Creative Anachronism (SCA). We are dedicated to the re-creation
of the culture of the Middle Ages. In our “Current Middle
Ages,” members research and recreate the clothing,
weaponry, armor, food, crafts, arts, and lifestyles of the Middle
Ages and Renaissance ... as they should have been.
The Shire meets on the last Sunday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in Old Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Tiffin. Depending on the month, that will either be the fourth or fifth Sunday. For details, click on "Activities" in the menu.

What is there to do?
There is so much to do! Members of the SCA can participate in martial activities such as armored combat, fencing, archery, or thrown weapons. Others try arts and crafts such as calligraphy, illumination, leather working, spinning, weaving, embroidery, and blacksmithing. Some enjoy dancing, others recreate culinary delights of the Middle Ages. If they did it in the Middle Ages, someone in the SCA is probably doing it.
Can I come to a meeting?
Absolutely! We'd love to have you. At our meetings we try out activities of the Middle Ages. In the past we've done leather working, dancing, mead making, we've made garb (costumes), played board games, and feasted. For more information on meetings, click on Activities in the menu.
I want to jump right in to the SCA!
Where do I start?
You could start by attending an SCA event. Events are gatherings of SCA participants which usually take a full day, a weekend, or even longer. Many events are themed, focusing on tournaments, arts and sciences competitions, dancing, or any number of activities. For a list of upcoming events in this area, click on the Events button.
