Greeting friends! We, the Franciscan brothers of Zittau, welcome you to our humble monastery. We are very glad you could join us for this, the holy feast of Whitsunday in the year of our Lord, Thirteen Hundred and Sixty-eight. As you may be aware, the festivities this year will be exceptional, as this is also the centennial anniversary of the founding of these hallowed halls.
We hope your journey has been a pleasant one and bid you take your rest as you will upon our grounds until it is time for Holy Mass, after which the feasting will commence!
As you can plainly see, we have worthies and potentates from across the region in attendance. We are blessed with friends from all around Saxony, Bohemia and Silesia today and even, if you can believe it, a legate from his Holiness, Pope Urban, and a delegation of nobles from the court of our Emperor, Charles!
So, friends, let the promise of this day raise your spirits and let our hospitality gladden your hearts for you are most assuredly welcome here amongst the brothers of St. Francis!
Feast will include: Sausages, Sauerbraten, Roast Pig, Kapusta, a variety of Tarts, bread, cheese and many other delicious items.
Feast entertainment will include live music and an invasion of the Christian lands by Moorish dancers.
