Regional Arts & Sciences Faire Dates

Please remember to send in your recommendations for Kingdom and Baronial awards. Remember, neither Their Royal Majesties nor Their Excellencies can be everywhere and see everything. We are Their eyes and ears in Their absence. They can not recognize people if They do not know how we think of our neighbors and friends. Making recommendations for the Kingdom and Barony are fairly simple – they both have online forms that can be used.

Welcome to Dernehealde

Dernehealde's Coat-of-ArmsDernehealde is part of the Barony Middle Marches, in the Oaken Region of the Middle Kingdom as part of the Society for Creative Anachronism. Geographically, we are located in Southeastern Ohio, on the campus of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in Athens County. We are part of a worldwide organization that promotes the study and recreation of pre-17th century, predominantly Western European arts and skills. This is accomplished in part by events where members can participate in a variety of activities – from tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more. Much of the experimentation and camaraderie is accomplished at our weekly meetings.

If you are new to the Society, I urge you to check the Newcomers’ Liaison page (the Chatelaine’s/Castellan’s office) for information about the SCA. There you will find articles on etiquette, customs that are particular to the SCA, and other useful information. I also recommend that you consider joining our shire’s e-mail list. It is fairly low traffic, but it does offer a means of asking questions that you may not have thought of at one of the meetings. It also helps in developing and maintaining lines of communication and coordination with other members of the group. We also have a number of Dernehealde ‘alumni’ who are members of the list.
