Dernehealde Alumni

Updated 19 Nov 2007

This page is hopefully going to be more than just a listing of those gentles who have been members (however short) of fair Dernehealde. With good participation, this list could prove to be an invaluable resource for the members of Dernehealde - both resident and student.

Lord Aaron Goodwyn (Aaron Goddwyn)

Tyler Moore

AoA Award of Arms; 10/23/2004

Althena

Lady Althena Reed

Renee Faller

Althena Reed is an 11th century Anglo-Saxon who is working hard to study and refine her ability with a needle and thread. She enjoys all manner of thread work, dancing, and performing before the gentry. She is/was a dance minion of Lady Felice Debbage, and oh, the times they have.

She served as one of two of the Shire's Chroniclers with her compatriot Isobel Mure.

AoA Award of Arms: 02/16/2008

Anne

Lady Anne de Mignon

Anne is a 14th century Burgundian who dabbles in many other cultures, most notably Middle Eastern and French, though the English have their attractions. She is currently organizing the second annual Snowball here in Dernehealde. Anne was officially apprenticed to Master Brusten de Bearsul at Dernehealde's event 'Dernehealde Throws a Snowball II' where she was the autocrat. She is apprenticed to him for period games, although she also finds time for period fabric, ceramic, and mechanical arts.

She currently has the following awards:

WT Watchful Tower 12/09/2006

AoA Award of Arms; 02/17/2007
APF Award of the Purple Fret: 02/16/2008 (APF)

Cinnion

Bonheddwr (Lord) Cinnion map Liuelin map Higuel

Douglas Needham

Currently in the Kingdom of Ęthelmearc

AoA Award of Arms; 09/22/1987

Bonheddwr Cinnion map Liuelin map Higuel, is a Welshman from the late 11th century. I have been instructed in the arts of war, as is necessary in these times, but I also have learned a number of the more peaceful arts and sciences. This is a fascination which dates back into my younger years, when we had a great visitor in the skies which heralded the great changes of these times. I am fortunate that I have been able to travel about many countries, learning more about those things which interest me, including learning more about the likes of Ptolemy, Euclid, and others.

In the modern Middle Ages, I have been in the SCA since early 1975, which I first attended a SCA event in Dernehealde with a friend a few years older than me who was visiting Ohio University as a possible college to attend. My college years had me at Tirnewydd for several years, and then back to Dernehealde for a few more, where I was the MoS for a period of time. Since graduating from college, I was a member of Shadowed Stars (Fort Wayne, IN) for several years, where I was the Heavy Weapons Marshal, and then back to Tirnewydd, where I lived while I was Middle Marches Baronial Heavy Weapons Marshal.

Recently, I was a Deputy Seneschal for Border Keep, and was also the webminister for the group (I am turned this over when I moved, but continue to be the techy on call). This is because I am a computer engineer, and was laid off in mid-January 2008 from the startup company I worked for out in CA. As a result, I ended up taking a job at Carnegie Mellon University at the Parallel Data Laboratory. In SCA terms, this means that I now live in the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands, which is in the kingdom of Ęthelmearc. Some of my interests include, Armoured Combat, Archery, Medieval Mathematics, Medieval Astronomy, Scientific Instruments, Leather Working, Armouring, Illumination, and Siege Engines. I can be reached via email at 'cinnion at ka8zrt.com' (remove the spaces).

Cori A&S Showcase

Cori of Dernehealde

Cori isn't quite sure where or when she's from, but yarn had better be available. She's quite docile as long she has sticks and string in hands and a sock on the needles, but if a fight is what you seek, she won't turn down a round with a rapier and dagger. She can also be found sticking her nose into parties engaged in spinning, embroidery, and calligraphy.

She has yet to be recognized by the Barony or Kingdom.

Felice

Lady Felice Debbage

Felice is a late 16th century Englishwoman who studies and teaches late period dancing and costuming. She currently serves as Dance Mistress for the Marche of Tirnewydd and has been traveling in Italy, France, and the Middle East researching new forms of dance. In her free time, she loves making all kinds of neat stuff and snuggling with her monochromatic kitties, Squeak and Mieux. Felice is a former Dance Mistress and Seneschal of the Shire of Dernehealde.

Khaulah

Khaulah al-Zarqa' al-Kara'idi

Khaulah is an 8th century Arab from northern Arabia. Not far outside Damascus, while traveling home with her tribe's merchant caravan, she wandered away from the caravan during a stop and was accidentally left behind. It was a large caravan and no one noticed until the next day; a search party was sent out but returned unsuccessful. In the meantime, another caravan on its way to Damascus found her and kindly took her with them to Damascus. When it became apparent that her tribe had given her up for dead or kidnapped by a rival group, she found employment as assistant to a merchant. This arrangement worked quite well until the Syrian merchant, unwisely, sent her to accompany a caravan of goods headed for Constantinople. Not surprisingly, Khaulah again got lost (though this time she waited until she was in the city to wander off). After the caravan left without her, she used her earnings to start a small textiles business catering to the ladies of the city. Eventually she made her way to Europe, where she finds herself now, happily traveling the world.

Khaulah is fond of archery, cooking (but none of that boring European fare, with all that awful pork!), and sharing stories about her brave, wise and loyal Arabian foremothers. She also likes to dress up in European attire for fun, but she far prefers her comfortable and respectable Arab clothing.

She has yet to be recognised by the Crown or Barony.

Lady Meredith of Dernehealde

Meredith Ritchie

Moved to Atlantia

AoA Award of Arms; 2/17/2007

Muirrenn A&S Showcase

Lady Muirenn ingen Uaithne

Muirenn's background is clouded in mystery (she may have even forgotten it). All though legend has it she migrated down from Northshield in search of warmer temperatures. She has spent the last four years serving as the cherished all though some what impish Saxon of the Honorable Lady Sabine de Creuequoer.

Muirenn stays busy as the current Baronial Seneschal. She also enjoys carting and packing with her dogs and goats. She's currently training her mighty war horse, Bandit. Muirenn's goal is to reauthorize in equestrian in the spring. Her other interests include juggling, diabolo, fire poi spinning, drumming, and middle eastern dance.

Rowen

Lady Rowen Hen Enaid

Rowen is an 11th century welsh Bard traveling between baronies trying to further her knowledge in her art and attempting to con.... I mean, bring other people into the bardic fold. She has recently developed an interest in the Turkish culture and is planning on studying their bardic tradition. Her other interests range from cooking to the scribal arts and sewing.

Rowen joined the growing household of Master Brusten de Bearsul as his protege in Septemeber at Harvest Days. Her one and only office held was as Senechal of the Marche of the Winged Hills where she realized she was horrible at paperwork and should stick to smaller acts of service to the Crown.

Mary Beth Garner

Currently in Barony Flaming Gryphon

AoA Award of Arms; 11/12/2005

William

William de Wolfe

Ben May

William was a happy member of Dernehealde for a year whilst he lived in the States.

Currently he's alternating between being a Viking and a Saxon depending on which one allows him to use his Dane Axe in the particular century he is re-enacting. He also trains the fighters in the Oxfordshire local group of Regia Anglorum and is hoping to set off on a quest for the Holy Grail next year.

He is marrying the local (to him) thane later this year, allthough at the time she will most likely be fulfilling her role as a Nikki rather than Eorl Aethulfwulf.

Lord Wolfram von Waldersbach

Terrence Fernbach

Wolfram was a happy member of Dernehealde whilst he was here in the late 80's. He is a veteran of the Third Crusade (1190's) where he followed Frederick I Barbarossa, and pressed on to Acre after Barbarossa's death, where he lived for a few years after the end of the Third Crusade. He returned home to Waldersbach, located in the Duchy of Swabia, after the deaths of his wife and daughter in Acre, and the death of his older brother back home. There, he served his Duke and his Emperor in his fiefdom of Waldersbach and maintained his liege lords' forests.

Currently, Wolfram serves as the Exchequer of the Grey Gargoyles, and as the Archery Marshal for the Shire of the Grey Gargoyles and for the Incipient Barony of Ayreton, in the Chicagoland area. He is also the 2008 Midlands Regional Archery Champion. He has received his AoA and a Dragon's Barb.
