Getting started in the SCA can seem a bit overwhelming, but if you take it just a bit at a time, you'll be surprised at how quickly it all comes together. With that, here is a listing of resources that may help you "get your feet wet" so to speak. One thing to keep in mind, it is NOT a requirement that you become a paid member to be a part of the SCA. The only times when paid membership is required is if you are planning to hold an office anywhere in this (the Middle) kingdom.
It is highly recommended that you check out "The Don't Speech" by Ian the Green, a gentle from the Barony of Jaravellir, in the Kingdom of Northshield. Also, for our college students, check out the link "The SCA Without Breaking the Bank" written by a former college student and full of useful ideas on how to outfit yourself for your time with us.
All .pdf files will require Adobe Acrobat Reader (or other .pdf viewer).
Introduction to Dernehealde
Dernehealde generally meets on Tuesday nights from about 7:00pm until 11:00pm. The actual starting times of the meetings varies depending on the will of the people and the Seneschal. Craft nights are generally held on Thursday nights and fight practices on Sundays. You can check the calendar for exact times, once they are determined (based on availability and scheduling of rooms at Ohio University).
