Letter From Their Excellencies

To all the people of Flaming Gryphon:

At last night's Baronial Meeting, Berach and I announced our intention to step down as Baron and Baroness. You will all receive a letter in the mail this week explaining our decision, but in brief we know that we are no longer doing the job as we used to do it, and over the past year we've come to see that we will not be able to devote the time and attention to it that the group deserves.

Being Baron and Baroness has been the greatest honor of our lives, and we are profoundly grateful for the opportunity we've had to serve you. We hope to continue participating in the Barony for many years to come.

Mistress Rosamund kindly explained the logistics of a changeover at the meeting last night. In brief, it typically takes 4-6 months, and of course once we have a new Baron and/or Baroness, the changeover can take place whenever is most pleasing to Their Majesties. We have many events when this could take place, but it is too early to start planning for that! We are not going anywhere and we will continue to do our work as Baron and Baroness throughout the process.

We will be holding a poll of the populace (not a vote!) to let the Crown know which candidate/s have popular support. The choice will remain up to the Crown. Nominations will be accepted through July 18. Mistress Alexis has kindly volunteered to compile them. Send email or post to the address below -- oral nominations are not sufficient. Both self-nominations and nominations of others will be accepted. If you want to nominate someone else, please call him/her/them first!

If there are more than four candidates, we will have an internal poll to reduce the number to four or less. The final poll, whether it's our first or second, will be forwarded to the Crown for their decision.

Again, we thank you all for what has been a defining experience in our lives. We hope that we have given back half of what you have all given to us over the years. Flaming Gryphon is an extraordinary group of people, and we have been blessed to know and serve you all.
