As I feel somewhat awkward, no, I feel really awkward forwarding this message, I need to put forth a few words of explanation/defense:

  1. The following message specifically states that spreading this information is _desireable_ to the original sender in order to prevent worse awkwardness later.
  2. There are in the Barony many friends of both people involved whose addresses I did not see on the original mailing list and, as this has not shown up on the spot 2.5 days after it was originally sent, it might not reach you else except as rumor, something else the message seeks to avoid.
  3. For those who feel I should not have posted this, please know that I wrestled with the idea myself for some time. Were it not for point 1), I wouldn't even have thought of it. Despite that, I am expecting a certain amount of flack in one form or another.

Bengt

Dear Friends,

I hope you will forgive the impersonality of a generic note sent to all of you. I have some regretful news to convery, and wanted to tell you in the easiest way possible. Kevin and I are going to be getting a divorce. I know ther rumors have been out there for a long while, but this time it's actually true. Kevin will be moving out. At this moment he isn't sure where to. I will probably be getting a new phone number. I'll let you know what it is when I get it.

One of the things I do know is that, hard as the divorce may be on us, it can also be hard on our friends. I intend to do my best not to put you in an uncomfortable position. I don't want you to have to choose sides. Yet I also know that as I grow and change, my relationships with other people may change, too. I hope that a I become accustomed to the new me, you will still be comfortable with our relationship. I value your friendships very much.

Please feel free to spread the news of our divorce. Because of our rank, it will be a popular topic for gossip. I am hoping it will be well known by Pennsic so I can avoid any of those askward situations so likely to happen with people who aren't aware of it.

Lastly, I currently have some SCA committments to a few of you. My divorce is going to take a chunk of my time for awhile. My committments may be delayed, but I still plan to keep them. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Yours,
Kellene/Garlanda
