Competitions:
Haiku:
Contestants can either bring a completed
haiku to the event or participate in kamikaze haiku--or both!
Prepared haiku:
Theme: Summer
Extra consideration will be given
to haiku that reflect the theme.
Kamikaze haiku: must be prepared on site, using a mystery theme
that will be announced at noon on the day of the event.
Contestants will have two hours
(i.e. until 2:00 p.m.) to complete a kamikaze haiku. Both categories
will receive prizes.
Iron Chef:
Main rules: Contestant will bring completed dish(es) to the
event. Contestant must provide full ingredient list for their
dish, or the dish will not be judged. Facilities are available
for heating dishes, if necessary; if a dish must be kept cold,
the contestant must arrange for a cooler.
Dishes must contain one or more
of the three theme ingredients:
Mushrooms, Tofu or
Pickled Items
All dishes will be judged by an impartial panel on the following
criteria: Taste, Presentation, Difficulty of Preparation and Use
of Theme Ingredient(s).
Prizes will be awarded
in the following categories:
Best Overall Dish,
Best Use of Theme Ingredient(s) and Best Representation of Japanese
Cuisine.
