Greetings unto all who read these words from Meister Konrad Mailander, Rouge Scarpe Herald,

This is the Middle Kingdom Letter of Acceptances and Returns for Escutcheon's March 13th Letter of Intent.  Items are listed alphabetically.

My thanks to Simcha bat Yona for her commentary.   I have copied relevant passages from the commentary.

My decisions and comments on them follow the commentary and are prefaced with ROUGE SCARPE: and are in red.  Items that are accepted will be forwarded to Laurel as a Middle LoI posted on OSCAR.

Escutcheon. Notes : Client WILL accept major and minor changes. The desired gender of the name is male, and client cares most about language and/or culture (14th-16th century Italy).

Name Comments:

Simcha:  “Jewish Names in Milan” does NOT list “Giovanni” but rather “Giovan Battista.” In “Jews in Rome” there are two instances of “Romano” as a surname.

ROUGE SCARPE:  Name forwarded to Laurel.  Device forwarded to Laurel with the Blazon:  Per bend vert and azure, in bend sinister a Maltese cross and a fleur-de-lis Or.

2) Petrona da Manciano – Resubmitted Device - "Per bend sinister argent and vert, in bend two leaves embowed counterchanged"

Shattered Crystal

Escutcheon Notes:
Name registered in August of 2010 via the Middle. Original device was rejected in the August 2010 LoAR.

Device Comments:

Simcha: Original device, "Per bend sinister argent and vert, in bend an oak leave embowed and a holly leafe embowed counterchanged,"was returned by Laurel for having a “overly natural depiction” of a holly leaf in base, and possibly “sword and dagger-ing” with an oak leaf and a holly leaf in the same charge group. This re-design addresses the reasons for return.

ROUGE SCARPE:  Device forwarded to Laurel with the Blazon:  Per bend sinister argent and vert, in bend an oak leaf embowed inverted and an oak leaf embowed counterchanged.

3) Tristán Bartolo de la Vega - Resubmitted Device - "Azure, on a pile between two escallops argent a chess-knight sable"

Cynnabar

Escutcheon notes: Name registered in January of 2011 via the Middle. Device was returned in November by Rouge Scarpe.

Device Comments:

Konrad:  His original submission, "Sable, a chess knight and on a chief triangular azure an escallop argent." was actually returned in October 2010 by Rory Rouge Scarpe for low contrast between the chief and field.

Simcha: The returned device was originally, “Sable, a chess-knight argent and on a chief triangular azure an escallop argent.” It was returned for color-on-color. This redesign addresses the reason for return. No conflicts found.

ROUGE SCARPE:  Forwarded to Laurel with the Blazon:  Azure, on a pile between two escallops argent a chess knight sable.
