June 7th, 2012
Greetings unto all who read these words from Meister Konrad Mailander, Rouge Scarpe Herald,
This is the Middle Kingdom Letter of Acceptances and Returns for the items on the April 2nd, 2012 ILoI.
My thanks to Aryanhwy merch Catmael, Gunnvor silfraharr, Daði Þorfinnsson, Magnus von Lübeck, Andrewe Bawldwyn, Alys Mackyntoich, Bruce Draconarius of Mistholme, Ásfríðr Úlfvíðardóttir, and Hiordis Ragnarsdottir for their commentary.
Since the letters are now being posted on OSCAR with documentation and commentary open for all to see I will no longer be copying the documentation or commentary to this letter. If you would like to see the documentation or commentary for this letter please go to http://oscar.sca.org/index.php?action=100&loi=1267
SENA refers to The Standards for Evaluation of Names and Armory. These are the new rules for submissions. The old Rules for Submissions (R.f.S.) will also be applied until the October LOAR. So until my August ILoAR/ELoI I will be applying both R.f.S. and SENA as long as items pass under either they will be forwarded.
My decision and comments are prefaced with ROUGE SCARPE: and are in red. Items that are accepted will be forwarded to Laurel as a Middle LoI posted on OSCAR.
1: Antony Wolverton - New Name
ROUGE SCARPE: Forwarded to Laurel. The submitter asked for authenticity for 13th century and should know that the spelling of the byname will most likely have to change to meet this request.
2: Celeste le Rouge de Calais - New Name
ROUGE SCARPE: Name forwarded to Laurel. The submitter should know that commentary suggested <la Rousse> as a byname with the desired meaning of “the red” and I will attempt to contact them to check on their preference.
3: D'vorah bint Dā'ūd - New Name & New Device
Azure a goblet and in chief an arabic pen box argent
ROUGE SCARPE: Name forwarded to Laurel. There was a question in commentary whether the macrons over the vowels in < Dā'ūd> needed to be dropped to be registered. The submitter had allowed no minor changes but has specifically allowed this change if necessary. Device forwarded to Laurel with the Blazon: Azure, in pale a billet fesswise argent charged with an Arabic pen box azure and a goblet argent. The submitter has been informed that the charge, an Arabic pen box, does not include the rectangle shape but is actually just the markings within the rectangle and asked if they wanted to redesign. They prefer the device as emblazoned.
4: D'vorah bint Dā'ūd - New Badge
(Fieldless) an arabic pen box azure voided argent
ROUGE SCARPE: Forwarded to Laurel with the Blazon: (Fieldless) On a billet fesswise azure an Arabic pen box argent.
