Greetings unto all who read these words from Meister Konrad Mailander, Rouge Scarpe Herald,

This is the Middle Kingdom Letter of Acceptances and Returns for the items on the February 10th, 2013 ILoI.

My thanks to Aryanhwy merch Catmael, Chaya Simcha bat Yonah, Modar Neznanich, Alys Mackyntoich, and Hiordis Ragnarsdottir for their commentary.

Since the letters are now being posted on OSCAR with documentation and commentary open for all to see I will no longer be copying the documentation or commentary to this letter.  If you would like to see the documentation or commentary for this letter please go to https://oscar.sca.org/kingdom/kingloi.php?kingdom=4&loi=1798

SENA refers to The Standards for Evaluation of Names and Armory.  These are the new rules for submissions.

My decision and comments are prefaced with ROUGE SCARPE: and are in red.  Items that are accepted will be forwarded to Laurel as a Middle LoI posted on OSCAR.

1: Bruno Lachner - New Name

ROUGE SCARPE:  Forwarded to Laurel.

2: Ian Macynwiss - New Name

ROUGE SCARPE:  Returned for conflict with Ian MacKynnes (Registered September 1984 LoAR via An Tir).  Although they are visually distinct the bynames are pronounced the same.

3: Jean Yves de Chierebourg - New Badge

(Fieldless) A gridiron argent.

ROUGE SCARPE:  Name Forwarded to Laurel with the Blazon:  (Fieldless) A gridiron argent.

4: Kenneth Britmar - New Name

ROUGE SCARPE:  Forwarded to Laurel as <Kenneth Brightmore>.  The submitter indicated that the sound "Bright-more" was most important.  Documentation for <Brightmore> as a 16th Century name English was provided in commentary and the submitter has indicated this is what they would prefer the byname to be so it has been changed to match their wishes.

5: Livith Northwode - Resub Appeal of Kingdom Return of Name & New Device

Gules, a border argent, four oak leaves conjoined in cross Or and semi-fructed proper.

ROUGE SCARPE:  Name forwarded to Laurel.  This is not an Appeal of Kingdom Return.  The original submission <Lilith of the Northern Wood> was returned on my July 2012 ILoAR.  This is a resubmission of a different though similar name.  Device forwarded to Laurel with the Blazon:  Gules, four oak leaves in cross Or fructed proper within a bordure argent.  The device is a resubmission.  Since the name was returned at Kingdom the device was returned with it.  Now that there is a name to attach it to it can move forward.

6: Máirghréad Britmar - New Name

ROUGE SCARPE:  Forwarded to Laurel as <Máirghréad Brightmore>.  The submitter indicated that the sound "Bright-more" was most important.  Documentation for <Brightmore> as a 16th Century English name was provided in commentary and the submitter has indicated this is what they would prefer the byname to be so it has been changed to match their wishes.  According to SENA Appendix C Gaelic and English is an acceptable combination.

7: Sebastian Lurch - New Name & New Device

Per pale vert and purpure, a tree blasted and eradicated Or enfiling an annulet argent.

ROUGE SCARPE:  Name Forwarded to Laurel.  Device forwarded to Laurel with the Blazon:  Per pale vert and purpure, a tree blasted and eradicated Or enfiling an annulet argent.

8: Symonne Hope de Poitiers - New Name

ROUGE SCARPE:  Forwarded to Laurel.  The submitter indicated that Culture of 12th-14th Century French was important.  The submitter should be aware that the inclusion of the English byname means it is not a French name but it should be registerable.  Combination of French and English is acceptable according to SENA Appendix C for 1100 to 1600.
