Device forwarded to Laurel with the Blazon: Per fess azure and Or semy of poppies gules, a demi-horse issuant from the line of division argent.

4: Geatwald, Canton of - Resub Name

ROUGE SCARPE:  Name Forwarded to Laurel.

5: Hákon Hrafnsson - New Name Change & New Device

Chevronny of eight argent and vert, a raven close sable.

ROUGE SCARPE:  Name Forwarded to Laurel as <Hakon Hrafnsson>.  Submitter asked for authenticity for 13th century Norse.  All the sources found for the given name from that time period found during commentary did not have the accent so it has been dropped.  Device returned for conflict with Ciothruadh Dubh (reg. 02/2012 via Caid), "(Fieldless) A raven maintaining a spear bendwise sable," with a DC for the field but none for the maintained charge. It also conflicts with the device of Serlo of Litchfield, Gyronny gules and Or, a vulture close sable. There is a DC for the change of field, but nothing for the difference between a vulture and a raven, both regular-shaped birds.

The submitter should be aware that the bird depicted is a crow not a raven.  A heraldic raven has a distinctive hairiness that identifies it as a raven.  A good example can be found here:  http://oscar.sca.org/index.php?action=145&id=35120  It should also be drawn larger to better fill the space.  The correct term for the field treatment is chevronelly and the number does not get blazoned.

One of the commenters suggested, “
If this were changed from chevronelly to two chevronels with the raven overall, it would clear this conflict but still be very similar visually.

6: Karl Sturmer - New Name

ROUGE SCARPE:  Name Forwarded to Laurel.
