Purpose:
In this we declare the Beauty of the World embodied by the graceful flying of
hawks and the joyful running of our horses, hounds, and ferrets. That our
Guild undertakes to advance the knowledge of the Hunt; which cause we shall
strive to further by pursuing excellence in the research, care, and demonstration
of the Art of the Hunt. This will include the study of Period Hunting and Fishing
techniques and the care and maintenance of the Hound, Horse, and Hawk in the
Noble manor, and their historical role in the Ancient, Medieval, and Renaissance world.
Greetings to all who read these pages,
The words above are from the Hunt Guild Charter and serve to guide the Guild in
its endeavors. It is the purpose of the Guild to serve this and any other Kingdom
in learning about the Art of Hunting. These arts include not only the Hound and
Hawk aspects, but Equestrian, Fishing and any other aspect of the hunt, as well.
We are searching for anyone who not only knows about the hunt, but those who are
curious about the hunt. Falconers who wart to learn about running hounds, houndsmen
who want to learn about equestrian activities, equestrians who want to learn about
fishing?, well, you get the point. We also want leather workers, artisans, scribes,
seamstesses, cooks, etc. These were all functional in the hunt, and their work
made hunts possible.
Those who have ferrets, scent hounds, ground hounds, are also invited to join.
Our wish is that all who have any type animal who was used in the Art of the Hunt
in period, provide some source of study about this use. We need to build our
Compenduim of information for others to study as well.
Please be assured that the purpose of this Guild is not to undermine, nor over
take any of the established groups, be they equestrian, hound, hawk, etc. We are
here to support and help these groups flourish and grow. To bring them together
in one common goal, that being to provide the very best information we can about what we do
in the Society and in this Kingdom.
Those of you who are hardcore fighters, please note that one of the ways Kings
kept their armies in fighting shape was to take them hunting. It was felt that
the time afield kept them battle hardened, used to sleeping on the hard ground
in bad conditions, and the demands of the hunt kept them used to working together
in groups. Soooo, hunting is a good thing even for fighters..
If you need further information, questions, etc. please feel free to contact me,
or follow any of the links on this page. If I don't have the answers, I know
others that probably do..
Yours in service to the Guild,
THL Corin the Huntsman,
Minister,
