>From the Rapier Marshal

SIDESWORD - As a reminder, the purpose of the Sidesword experiment is

to learn to fight in the style of the Italian Masters, Agrippa,

Marozzo and Saviolo. Even though the percussive cuts may look

remarkably like armored combat, the armor standards and blow

calibration are still basically rapier style. This is an experiment

at the Society level, run by the Society Rapier Marshal. It is an

experiment right now to validate the rules and armor standards that

were proposed. Agrippa, Marozzo and Saviolo all wrote their treatise

in the 16th century. The intent of this experiment is to develop a

set of rules for a truly period rapier combat style.

That being said, it's also a lot of fun.

Two more championships have been completed. Brice Colquhoun (my drop

dead deputy) is now the North Oaken champion with Davio de la Rouge

as his second, and Baron Benedict of Beverly is now the Pentamere

Champion with Warder Alexander Blackram as his second. Congrats to

all.

As of this writing the Starfire rapier blade is MidRealm legal.

My next events are Pentamere 12th night, A Regular Event in the

Cleftlands, Candelmas and St. Valentine's Day Massacre.
