KRMs May 2003 Pale Letter

From the Kingdom Rapier Marshal

There were only seven significant rules changes made last year. Please communicate these at all events and practices: 1 - Blade grasping is allowed, 2 - Knee walking is allowed, 3 - A blow to the finger/hand incapacitates the hand, not the whole arm, 4 - A dropped weapon is not an automatic hold, 5 - There are no rapier blade length restrictions, 6 - There are no rigid parry size restrictions, 7 - Steel fencing helms are legal (no writ needed). Also, the Preface was removed by Royal decree.

The Spring Regional Rapier Champions will be expected to serve as retainers for Their Majesties when in that region. The champion and his/her second will also be on the Pennsic Champions Team. Schedule:
Feb 22 – South Oaken - Winters End (Champion, Lady Brighid MacCumhal, seconded by, Warder Colin MacNish)
Apr 26 - Midlands - Rites of Spring
May 3 - Pentamere - Andelcrag Althing
May 10 - Constellation – Coronation
May 17 – North Oaken - Baron Wars
TBD - Northshield

The youth rapier program needs schlaeger blades. We'll take used and broken blades (broken at the tip no shorter than 30"). Get it to me, or the Kingdom Deputy for Youth Rapier (also my successor) Lady Moira MacGillavrey.

Dienst mit einem Laecheln,

Max.
