December 2004 Missive

Greetings,

As winter approaches, the time for throwing dwindles as most inside sites do not have facilities for throwing with out damaging walls or floors. This is a good time to check your weapons for burrs and nicks on the blades and splinters on the handles. You might want to see if you need to add more handles to your inventory as you get ready for next spring's events.

Note the following changes in rules:
As of December 1, 2004 the experimental status of altlatls, slings and staff slings has been rescinded and their usage is no longer allowed on the thrown weapons range in the Middle Kingdom.
Some reasons for this decision:
slings and staff slings

• safety zone is undefined
• projectile does not stick in target
• projectile can be thrown farther than the thrown weapon back safety zone
• uses a mechanism to enhance the distance and velocity of the throw

• missiles can be thrown easily over 50 yards which does not fit on a thrown weapons range
• uses a mechanism to enhance the distance and velocity of the throw
