Greetings from Tibor.

I had written:
While each individual change may have it's adherents and reasons, the end
result is a series of changes that do not show the Pennsic Staff in good
  light.

Garlanda replied:
                                                    However, I think you
are being a little unfair about the above list of things you are
  holding the autocrats responsible for.

If you notice, I didn't hold them responsible for it, as much as I pointed
out the combined appearance of all the changes. I was pretty careful to
note the difference. I certainly acknowledge the difference.

                                          They have no control over
things like what battles are fought for which points or how the War
Points are organized. That is exclusively the decision of the Kings of
the Middle and the East, and the autocrats get no say in it whatsoever.

I suspect, having run a Kingdom event or two here in the East, that this is
an overstatement that comes naturally from being a former Crown in wartime.

A good autocrat wants to be as accomodating as possible, and will appear so
if they can. But, at the same time, they have a SIGNIFICANT amount of input
during the process of creating an event. If they are circumspect and
helpful, the royalty don't have to know just how much control the autocrat's
have.

I say this from experience. With all due modesty, I even have an award from
my Crown for my first royal progress event, which shows that the event went
well. I believe that the autocrat owns and controls the event, but that the
Crown rarely has to be shown or reminded of that fact.

If you didn't notice this during your reign, then I believe you owe an extra
vote of thanks to the many autocrats who helped you: for they did their job
better than you imagine.

Pennsic is in a state of change on many levels,
  administratively, legally, philosophically, financially.

Can you explain what those changes are? And why the need is felt to change
Pennsic? I assure you that the average attendee might want some simple
infrastructure changes: but Pennsic is the most successful regular event
held anywhere in the Society, by a long shot.

What is driving the change in this most successful of events?

        Tibor
