I once argued with Queen Catherine ( Dagan'sCatherine ) ( in her kitchen
over tea) her belief that SCA fighting was a recreation and not a sport.
I said that whenever one person is proclaimed a victor it is a sport ,
and went on to suggest that we institute marshals that wore black and
white striped tunics.

Magnus replies:

Any person who tries to tell me fighting isn't a sport obviously has
never done a practice in the mid-west summer, for 3 hours, in armor!
Seriously, if golf and lawn bowling are sports, if you can argue to the
"sport" of parachuting (wherein the participant experiences gravity and
little else) -- Nay if the chase after a fox on horseback is synonymous
with the very word "sport" then I say (loudest voice)

FIGHTING BE SPORT!!!

Autocrat - Romp in the Woods IV, July 21-23 All the fighting you could
ask for... A Big Game hunt in the woods, Melee Practice... A Melee
Tourney (as yet not approved for the OFFICIAL circuit, but we're
trying)... and War Practice with various groups holding the bridge and
field against all comers... (O yea, there's tons of non-fighting stuff
too)!! Come enjoy your friends and the lovely site!
