We had an amusing experience with this with our nephew. He's five, and always
asking to see Uncle Steve's armor when we come to visit. So Saeric let him try
out a sword on the Pell for a while. Meantime, Saeric's sparring with a friend.

The kid loved it and has quite a swing, so after he'd been really whacking at
the pell for a while, Saeric invited him to take a whack at Uncle Steve. The
nephew's eyes grow a few sizes as he looks WAY up at Saeric and he's obviously
thinking he's feeling a lot smaller than he did just a few minutes ago... ;-)

Saeric says he thought the rules against minor fighting were more to keep kids
from being swung at than the other way around. Before the episode with the
nephew, I would have thought having kids swing at a fighter was a cute idea.
But I have to report that we did experience a minor injury. At one point the
kid swung at the pell and the sword bounced back and hit him in the chin.
Another time he swung and slipped and fell. Minor scrapes, and in the family,
but at a public demo I suppose parents could get bent out of shape over similar
accidents.
