I love the idea of having banners for the finalists at Crown, but certainly
appreciate Mikjal's concerns about making them himself!

What about having the Crown make a formal request that all those who fight in
Crown provide a banner of their device of a particular size and shape (e.g.,
a 24"x36" rectangle, with a 1" channel along the left side [to fit a banner
pole])? The banners could be painted or sewn, the individual's choice. By
giving a geometric shape with dimensions (as opposed to "shield shaped"),
greater uniformity is ensured.

Making it a request instead of a requirement, more enthusiasm and less
resentment ("Not ANOTHER rule to have to follow!") would be generated, and a
great deal would be done to increase the overall ceremony of Crown. And the
fighters would then have a banner to display whenever they fight! (Who
knows--it might start a trend, since Crown wannabes will want to make a
banner of that shape too, so people will think they fought in crown ;) !)

Just my $.07 (CDN)!
