Okay, I suppose I should put a disclaimer at the top of this one.

DISCLAIMER: I am a foreign barbarian from the distant reaches of Atlantia.
We do things differently there than here. What I have to say should be
considered in the context of your own SCA culture and tested for value
rather than accepted as pravda.

That being said, here is how I handled AoA award recommendations.
My success rate with this method was 100%.

I wrote my recommendations on 3x5 cards. At the top, they would say "AoA
Recommendation" in block letters. They would have the candidate's SCA
name, a phonetic spelling, and a mundane name in parentheses. Then I would
write what group they were from. Then I would write three or four bullets
about that person. Those bullets would be clear, consise, and designed to
give the Crown something personal to say about the candidate during court.
Then I would sign it at the bottom.

I wrote these cards for individuals as I thought they were due for AoAs
and kept them in my belt pouch. When the Crown, an upcoming court, and a
candidate's attendance at that event all coincided, I would approach the
Crown with one to three cards. I would review the information with the
Crown and assure him/her that the candidate(s) would be present in court
that evening.

It always worked, and the Crown was glad to have the information in a
format that made court go well.

I don't have anything useful to say about kingdom awards, as Atlantia's
kingdom awards are polling orders. I understand that is not the case,
here.
