I agree with Finnvarr that we have never limited sword-wearing to knights.
I do wish people would get trained in the wearing of swords, I am tired of
nicked shins! And I wea what is to me a sword (OK, it is an offhand
dagger, I am a SMALL person) but generally reserve it for War (have to
protect my honour and all that) and certain state occasions, like my
Champion's knighting when I was also acting as emmisary for the King from
another Kingdom.
Whether someone who wears a sword all the time is a geek, I dunno.
Compensating for shortcomings, maybe? y;)
