I wear a weapon only when I am attending the Crown or acting in some
way as a representative of the Crown, such as at Pennsic Great Court.
This is not inconsistent with late 16th century practice; by 1600
George Silver remarked that swords were only seen in London on
military officers and guards, and that the practice of his childhood
of everyone (including children) going armed had quite died out.
