Okay, now that I'm back from Pentamere Regional A&S, and feeling somewhat
more rested (naps are nice) and thus sane, I'll tell! Guess I was too
out of it to remember last nigh. . . err. . . morning. I made an
Elizabethan bodice, circa 1585, based on a portrait of Lettice Knollys
(page 127 of _Queen Elizabeth's Wardrobe Unlock'd_, if you really want to
know). It's off-white fleur-de-lis brocade, with a tan-and-off-white
brocade and goldish velvet as contrasting fabrics, and tons of gold beads
and pearls. Really nifty hanging sleeves. First high-necked bodice I'd
ever done--I think I'm doing more, cause they look classy, IMHO.
Never done the documented A&S faire thing before. Both the Lady of my

household and my Baroness both pretty much ordered me to enter this time,
so I felt honor-bound to do it. Despite nervousness, I liked it! The
really frightening thing is that during the event I and a couple of
friends left to hit a local fabric store. The same place the brocades I
used this time came from, even. Big surprise--I left with more brocade and
ideas bouncing about in my head for 'next year's entry'. Hmm. . .
handsewing the whole thing sounds like a good start. . . and perhaps the
whole outfit from skin out? I wonder if I could learn knitting this year
so I could knit stockings. . .
