There is one way you can have one persona which covers many sorts of
raiment, classes in society, and even quite an extended period of time.
Place yourself in the service of somebody like and contemporary of
Caesare Borgia working in the field of intelligence. Your disguises can
be noble, peasant or cleric and, if you want to be earlier, take an
assignment in France or England where styles were less up-to-date.

That's how I manage to be Welsh and yet spend a good part of my time in
the Florence of Lorenzo, Leonardo, and so on. My Da is a diplomat in
the wool trade and, if I feel the need, documentable. A diplomat gets
around.
