Okay, okay, I know it's off-subject. However, I did promise I would
let people know what it was I had in mind for my exit interview (no, I'm
*not* a postal worker....).
I asked for a promotion. *delighted grin*
My supervisor has gotten a lot of complaints from fed-up employees, who
remember how he behaved last year around the holiday season and how he's
shaping up to do the exact same things this year. How he never listens
to a word we say if he can help it -- if he did, he'd have to do
something about it. And so forth. In my termination letter, the dates
he provided as unexcused absences were incorrect; one of them was a day
I wasn't even scheduled to work. This, to me, is just the top of a very
big heap of bull manure that has been bothering me about the place.
However, as the saying goes, "'Tain't the job, it's the bullshit that
goes with it!" I actually do still believe in the principles behind my
company and in the work I do there. I believe that I accomplish
something meaningful. I also believe that I *and* the company could
acomplish a lot more if I were the supervisor instead of the guy who
currently holds that post.
So, I offered them the proposal. I figured I didn't have anything to
lose, and the idea itself had me laughing at my own sheer audacity --
I'm not usually like this, but I figured, "What the hell." So I went
in, fully expecting to get laughed out of the office -- and I didn't!
That's why I was asking for vibes without saying anything. I didn't
want to jinx this, just in case it actually came off. I'll know more by
Wednesday. In the meantime, thank you all for listening to off-topic
posts and for sending your good wishes. It's meant a lot to me.
In gratitude,
I remain
