There is a recent book on American naming practices (heard the author
interviewed, can't remember the title). Part of the study was
comparing enrollments from elementary schools in different
demographic areas. Lower socio-economic groups showed a much higher
percentage of "unique" names, while more middle and upper had more
traditional names and more repetitions. (remember when every
elementary class had at least 3 Chad's?) There was one Chicago
shcool which had NO duplicate names at all!

Unique in person, if not in name.
