It occurred to me while I was reading these posts that there is another
alternative to having one BIG Althing meeting...

I think it could be possible to do "mini-Althings" like the current
"mini-RUM's" that are springing up.

Especially at outdoor/camping events, this could be quite easy. You may not
have to ask an autocrat for a special room for a meeting, like you may have to
at an indoor event...you could collect together to share beers (or what have

you) under someone's canopy, under a shady tree, etc., and just talk.

I know many of my cousins are similar in that we have these type of "peer
philosphy" discussions with our dependents on a somewhat irregular basis. For
me, it happens usually when someone we know is elevated to a peerage, and it
becomes a good time to just chat about things Peerly....attitude, competence,
goals and dreams...

I also realize not everyone has a peer handy to talk to in such a fashion,
or they perhaps may not know one well enough to feel they can initiate such a
discussion...

I would like to think that any of my dependents would feel comfortable enough
with me and our relationship that if someone else wanted to know about peerage
type things, that my dependent could bring them to me and we could talk about
it together or one-on-one.

Realize too, that if you ask 50 peers the same question, you are apt to get 50
answers (smile).

My point I guess is that you don't have to necessarily have an
all-encompassing Althing to talk about peer philosophy. Try it on a smaller
scale, either within your barony, region, or principality.

Perhaps even within your own camps at Pennsic....some night you may be able to
ask the Night-Prowling Peers(tm) to stay home and tell you stories around your
own campfire....to talk cabbages and kings...(smile).
