You know, just to throw a spanner in the works...
There's nothing that prevents philosophy discussion at any regular
event. There is nothing that prevents anyone from organizing a
philosophy discussion ahead of time. No, you do not need to be a peer
to do this - you just have to get a random assortment of peers or
belted students to agree to do it, and then to actually show up. Just
last week, Sir Diolun, Mistress Gwyneth and I went to the incipient
Shire of Winds Reach to do a talk on What Is A Peer and What is a
Belted Student. At the Crown tournament His Majesty won, I had the
best philosophy discussion on the nature of service, what is a protoge,
and what's a pelican for that I have ever had, and it just sort of
happened by chance.
You don't have to have an event geared to it to talk. Heck, most of the
peers I know (including myself :) are harder to shut up than to get
started.
