<Is the legalese accurate, or just a wonderful > "shoo" tactic?>

The following is _not_ legal advice (I'm a lawyer so I have to have a
disclaimer - heh heh)

        *checking my statute book*
The language is edited but accurate. Most important --
47 U.S.C. section 227(b)(3) allows $500 in damages for each such
violation, but if the violation is willful or knowingly, you can get
treble damages (in the Court's discretion) - you could always add to the
post something along the lines of if I ever hear from you again, I will
assume that you have willfully or knowingly violated the Telephone
Consumer Protection Act . . . etc.

On a side note, this statute was challenged by numerous
telemarketing groups as an unconstitutional free speech restriction. Most
Courts rejected this argument and have upheld the statute. Seems to me
that its a way to get off at least some spam-lists.
