My dictionary dates the English word "flamingo" to the mid-16th C. This
is pretty clear evidence that the bird was known to medieval Europeans
pre-17th C., so it is an allowable charge according to SCA rules.

According to an earlier post, someone apparently found a period coat of
arms containing several flamingos. I couldn't find that coat in any of
my references so I'd love to know where it was found, but that is
certainly better evidence than many things which are registerable.
