[Mid] Peace on this morning, please?

Good gentles of the realm,

     It is with great sorrow that I read my mail on this morning that should
be of peace, and only find discontent. The holiday season a stressful time
for all, and with the sad loss of one so loved, emotions throughout the
Kingdom are high. Each of us is merely human, we hurt.. we grieve.. we
rage... Sometimes, it's not so easy to keep ones temper. Badger's post was
ill thought before he sent it, yes, but his principal I believe was very true.
I myself have been disturbed over the discussion on Her Royal Highness'
device. I happen to think that Pink and Turquoise with Flamingos is a fine
device, if that is what she pleases. They are after all her arms.

     But what disturbs me most is Baldric's intolerant reply. Without the
grace to forgive a man who's in an emotional state and let it be, what use is
to say there is chivalry here? Would not it be better to say "Yes, I hurt
with you, we are all in pain, but good gentle, please think before you post?"
Is it not better to just move away from the topic, than fan the fires? We
_all_ make mistakes, and sometimes let our emotions overflow, it is a small
thing and not something unforgiveable.

     Being so very new to the society, perhaps I could distract with some
questions, as my knowledge of this medieval is just in it's infancy. First,
I'm curious to know if there, in period times, was a central register of arms
and devices that was consulted. Who said then what could and couldn't be, was
there anyone? And if there was, with communications what they were then, how
on earth did they manage to keep track of it all? And if there was not, did
it cause much problem?

       Just a side note, as I'm getting so excited about it I may burst. I
will be attending my very first event this month! I also managed to find a
sitter to watch my rug rats and I am cleared for Pennsic Pilrimage.. whooo
hooo!! Any tips, pointers, comments and suggestions for me on this great
adventure would be most kindly welcomed.
