In 1998, all merchants will be in what was the Populace Hall in the past.
Room traffic should not be a problem. Everyone coming in from Troll has to
pass through the Merchant Hall to get to the Fighting Area, and everyone
wanting food has to pass from the Fighting Area through the Merchant Hall.

We have quite a few spaces available, but it is on a "first-paid,
first-reserved" basis. Only paid reservations will be guaranteed the table
space requested. We encourage you to make a paid reservation to make the
entire checkin and setup process easier the day of the tourney. If you
choose not to make a paid reservation, you run the risk of not having any
tables or spaces available. A merchant may opt for just space, space and
tables, or all tables. Each merchant may reserve absolutely no more than
three spaces (24 feet) total.

List any special needs (eg. electricity, corner spot; we will try to
accomodate!):____________________________________________________

It is strongly recommended you include your $5 site fee with your
table/space fees. (You can also include your feast fee as well). By
including these extra fees, you can totally bypass the main Troll in the
morning, and come directly to the Merchant Coordinators. If you opt to pay
your site fee the day of the event, you will have to go through the Troll
before being allowed to get your table assignment.

Please make your check or money order payable to: SCA-Canton of Three

considered a reservation, see second page for mailing address.

Both pages must be returned to the Merchant Coordinator. Final date to
preregister for space is January 31, 1998.

Mail both pages of this application, plus fees, to: Judy Kirk; 1106
Egleston Ave.; Kalamazoo, MI 49001-3837. (616) 385-4717 (no calls after
10pm please) email: Darkblade@compuserve.com

Space/table reservation conditions and terms:

--Merchants may check in and set up beginning at 9am Saturday, February 7,
1998. If all fees have been prepaid, you can contact the Merchant
Coordinator directly. If you have yet to pay your site or feast fee, you
must go through Troll before you will be allowed to check in.

--Merchants can stay open until 8pm!

--At check in you will sign a waiver and receive an information packet
containing your site token, any last-minute information, and other
goodies. If you have prepaid for the feast, your feast ticket will also be
included in your packet. You will receive your sales location at this time.
After check-in you will be allowed to set up your booth space.

--If a merchant who has prepaid their fees is unable to show up at ValDay,
for any reason, their monies will be returned in the mail after the event.
If possible, please contact the Merchant Coordinator before Feb. 7, 1998 if
you realize you will not be able to attend.

--Merchants must arrive on site by 11am Saturday, for their reservations to
be honored. That merchant's tables/spaces will then be available for hire
by other merchants. Any merchants arriving after 11am risk not receiving
their reserved tables/spaces. Any merchant arriving after 11am and not
receiving all their reserved tables/spaces will be refunded for all the
tables/spaces not received.

--The Autocrat asks that items such as D&D and other RPG items (Magic
cards, etc.) not be blatantly displayed and sold. Sales of some food items
will be restricted; ask the autocrat if you want to sell food. Pop, tea,
and coffee sales are restricted to the Cafe. We encourage all merchants to
add ambiance to their booths by using colorful tablecoverings, bringing
their signs, banners, etc. Vendors must agree to remove from display any
items objectionable to the autocrat. If you have questions about your
goods, please contact us and ask.

--Collection and payment of Michigan state sales tax are the merchant's
responsibility. The event staff are not liable.

--Liability issue: Vendors are responsible for their own stuff. The event
staff, the Canton of Three Hills, and/or the Soceity for Creative
Anachronism, Inc. are not liable for any theft, moving, or damage incurred.
We ask that knives, swords, or anything considered a weapon not be sold to
minors. Check ID.

Final bureaucratic hoop:

"I hereby state I have read, understand, and agree to comply with the terms
of this merchant agreement."
