Aak! Shandra, you had to say "blazoned?" Gee, that reminds me... (as the
populace ducks, =en masse,= realizing Aunt Rhi's got yet another story to
tell...)

Many years ago, the first Northwoods Baronial Championship consisted of a
number of trials -- fighting prowress, poetry writing, best wolf call (you
have to know Northwoods)...and a trivia contest.

The final question on the trivia test (extra credit) was "Blazon the
Northwoods arms." *

One of the contenders was a young man rather new to the Society, who hadn't
the vaguest idea what "Blazon" meant. He was, however, a fairly gifted
artist. So he cartooned the Northwoods arms -- with the wolf's head
screaming "Yipe!" as it reacted to the sight of a very large Bic bein'
flicked...

The scorers gave him full credit, as I remember.

Rhiannon Ottersdale

* Out of curiosity, Master de Folo, if you're reading this -- why does the
graphic file of the Northwoods arms, as used in the =Pale,= depict the
Baronial arms with a laurel wreath in chief it doesn't have and without the
canton of the Kingdom arms that it does?
