I want to share with you a special memory I have of Jafar.

At Northwoods 25th anniversary celebration a few years back, I had the great
honor of seeing one of my apprenti elevated to the Laurel. It was a warm day,
the site was sprawling, and court was hurriedly assembled to do the work at
hand...

In the flurry, I had not noticed that one of the peers who was to speak for my
apprentice was not in the crowd...but the ceremony had begun, the
representative of the chivalry had spoken, and we were to the Royal
Peer....who unfortunately was not in court at this most auspicious moment.

The crowd was waiting expectantly.....my apprentice got a fearful look on her
face, and as she glanced at me, my face mirrored hers...I looked at the King
and Queen and tried to say "he's not here|" but couldn't make myself
understood...when suddenly, Count Sir Jafar stood and cleared his throat.
There was a collective sigh of relief...and Jafar began to extoll the virtues
and talents of this lady, whom he had never met personally prior to that day.

Those in the crowd had no idea that there had been a misunderstanding in the
ceremony, there were smiles and nods at his words, and the ceremony continued.

I have been forever grateful to him for his smooth rescue, as was my
apprentice (grin).
