There are many in Northshield who would have liked to pay their
respects in person, but distance prevented them. (Emisaries did
represent Their Stellar Highnesses.) However, it was obvious at
the Nordskogen 12th Night that all were thinking of him. many of the
attendees were wearing black bands with Jafar's name on them in gold.
The feast hall was illuminated entirely by candles (on those
10-candle diagonal floor stands like you'ld find in church). There
were unlit candles on the tables. At HSH Cnut's direction, we all
lit our table candles and observed a moment of silence in Jafar's
memory. When time for the toasts came, the first toast was for Jafar
and Kenna.
At court an embassador read a statement of condolence sent from
Their Majesties of the Outlands.
During feast a group of people near the Lost Boys' table were using
a little catapult to fling candy about the hall. It reminded me of
the 12th night when Jafar attended as king. Soimeone had gifted him
with a clear lucite catapult, and he was using it to shoot candy the
length of the hall.
Jafar's hand signed the proclamation which made our shire full
status. His smile brightened all who saw it. And his heart touched
all who met him. Long live his memory.
