Darn good question ...
William has the same basic personality that I do, so when in persona I don't
have to "act" any way other than myself. I know some folks who have fierce,
aggressive personae who are actually rather mild mannered. They can do
it, I can't. Also, William would have spoken early 14th century English, somewhat
before Chaucer. I can't do this well, and making do with a poor rendition of
pseudo-Shakespearean, 1600's talk would be, in my opinion, worse. So I speak
simply and with no references to subjects that are Out Of Period.
The key, I guess, is to stay within the environment you happen to be (feast,
Crown Tourney, court, etc.) and react as your persona would have in all of these.
Cover the cooler with a cape, the wristwatch with a long sleeve, and Enjoy!

Subject: [Mid] Staying in persona
Katte here -
As a newcomer after her first large event, I have a question to pose
to the Middlebridge.
- To what extent do you stay in persona during an event. Do you do
so more at some events (camping vs. RUM, etc.). Do you do so more
during certain portions of an event (Court vs. Feast) or in certain
interactions (Peers vs. Merchants). At what point does someone's
persona or lack thereof bother you?
I'm curious as to what standard I should hold myself, and what others
expect/don't expect.
Katte/Crystal
