        I know that anyone who works with newcomers a lot winds up with a
stock repertoire of explanations, answers and advice, as well as the
tendency to try to help anyone who looks like they might not know what's
going on. In fact, I'm pretty certain a major part of being chatelaine is
being the schmuck who gets to make a fool of yourself every time you see a
visiting veteran you don't recognize.
