Actually, now that you mention it, Mr Dunphy's posts have resembled a
rapidly-escalating exchange I saw on another discussion list. The
conversation turned highly acrimonious on absolutely no provocation at all.
Several times.
As it happened, the person on that other list has mental problems resulting
from a stroke, and simply was not responsible for his outbursts.
Mr Dunphy is either mentally unstable, or has no concept of civilized
conversation. Either way, we are not in a position to help him.
I have set my mail server to delete any messages from Mr Dunphy before
reading. I suggest all others do the same. *Please* do not respond to him.
He'll probably be offended at being ignored, but he's offended anyway, so
what's the diff?
For those on the digest, just ride it out and don't respond. Remember, he's
incapable of being reasonable (in spite of occasional rational remarks), he
doesn't know or understand our culture, and appears to be unable to control
himself.
I feel sorry for him, but don't plan to let him upset me.
