Good for you! I'm honestly glad that some people do that. Nor do I
believe people should begrudge the time spent writing recommendations for
others. I'm just a little annoyed because I have sat down several times to
write a letter, only to realize I don't know the requisite information
about the people and it's usually too late to call them and find out. I
rarely have 45 minutes in a row to spend working on anything I haven't
scheduled a week in advance, and most of that free time is late at night.
I'm not trying to make excuses, just venting frustration that I'm
having trouble living up to my own standards. If I were really dedicated
and less forgetful I'd carry a notebook with me to local meetings and get
the info from my friends when I see them. I guess that's what I'll need to
do.
Yes, even I, the perennial optimist, maker of inspiring speeches
may succumb to bouts of grumpiness. It'll fade as soon as I get these
damn letters written.
