I don't know that I'd use allergic to cover other than the technical definition,
simple because it isn't really an allergy. There are ways to cope with
allergies and ways to deal with intolerances and so on. Muddy up the waters by
calling your intolerance an allergy and you won't get very far.
Whenever I hear someone say they are allergic to something that is too small for
their body to mount an immune response to, I'm as likely to think they are a
hypochondriac or looking for attention or something. But then again, I have a
freezer full of antibodies and immunogens, so I'm kind of a geek in that
department.
