The other day I picked up the phone at work and quoted a system ...after
consulting for a while, the customer asked my name, at which I replied,
"Constance...Oh, my...uh...that was weird, my name's Kate."
I was SOOOO embarrassed.

Subject: [Mid] Re: Using your persona name
Well, at my first event last October a gentleman asked me my name. My
reflexes lead me to respond with my mundane name. A minute or two later I
realized the mistake, but said nothing and turned bright red on the inside
(I hope). My saving grace is that my mundane name is not only period, but
multi-national 8*)
I have not done the same since, which is a feat for a teacher-in-training
who is horrible with names. Although, joining the SCA should help in
remembering two names for one face as it is common practice to have foreign
language students to "adopt" names from the target culture.
