Judges, especially at Kingdom, are sometimes pressed for time and can come
off much more blunt on the judging sheets than they really mean to be. Your
friend (who I think I know :-) should definitely get in contact with the
judges. Speaking as a frequent judge myself, I LOVE it when entrants do
this--I have horrible handwriting and usually much more to say than I can
squish onto the judging sheet, including places to look for ideas, advice,
and so on--but I think in seven years of judging I've had a total of three
people seek me out afterwards to talk, even though I always leave my name,
e-mail, and address. I know approaching the judges can be tough for newer
people, or those who feel like they've not done well. But I've yet to meet
a judge who didn't want to help folks improve.
