You know Ariadne, I wouldn't really worry about your charging King Whosit to
get in. A friend of mine, who just happens to be a chef mundanely, was
running feast and had a guy in the kitchen helping, who didn't really
understand how to deal with carrots, so he had a few words with him, on the
order of, "If you don't know how to do it, ask someone next time!!!!"

Later in the event, he got called out of the kitchen to get his AoA, and
guess who was on the throne? They looked at each other, and both silently
mouthed, "carrots". The King then presented the award, with a public comment
to the effect that he knew how hard the guy worked in the kitchen..... My
friend is now a Laurel, and working harder yet.
