A vet is my father and grandfather. My father always wondered when I
speak of SCA and such if I knew about current values, honor, and respect.
He was very much surprized to learn that I wanted no part in the military
and didn't sign up after high school. But He found out what my values were
when he managed to see my web page and talked to my roommate. Even though I
destest violence, I realize that there are those with whom no ammount of
discussion will clear up matters (e.g. Hitler) and so force for protection
sake is needed. My father and gradfather both felt it their duty and signed
up, fought, and served for this country in the armed services. My dad was
very surprized to see this weeked my abbey's (Homepg) celebration hall
celebrating Memorial Day and thanking my father and grandfather. I told him
that, "Well, I may not agree with fighting, and I may never sign up, but
that doesn't mean I don't care about or think about those who do. It is
because of you, Dad, and granddad that I can have what I have today. It is
only right that I think of and thank you."
My father was almost moved to tears before this because when he called
on saturday my roommate told him that I was away putting flowers on my
grandfather's grave. When I got back in touch with him he said "Now how is
it you put flowers on dad's grave when he's buried all the way down here in
Christopher (approx 450 mi or so from Schaumburg)" To which I replied "I
found a proxy." Which I did. I went to a cemetery with some roses and asked
the caretaker to point the way to a veteran's grave that is unvisited and I
visited it in place of my grandfathers.

So there is my remembrance. Thank you to all who've served and are
serving. I am able to open my big mouth because of you and I thank you for
it, even though you might have second thoughts on the deal when you hear me.
lol. To whatever deity you pray to, I hope their blessings are rich and
full upon you and you are enjoying this holiday weekend. And.... remember
that peace should be more than just a word it should be an acronym meaning P
eople E njoying A C ultural E xchange. I pray that you are always in a
state of P.E.A.C.E. Slan

Kenneth Ulric Amhranai tan Briongloid (thanking Boru)/

Force William "Bill" Thorn, Love you both Granddad and Dad.)
