I bet ya'll thought the period fishing thread had gone away. hehehe But,
I need a blacksmith on the list to point me a certain direction. the
information I've read so far talks about making period hooks out of
'blacksmithing needles.' I've also read that these needles are 'square'.
Now, since most of any period fishing I do will be for smaller freshwater
fish, I'd think I wouldn't need anything more than a 1/8 inch diameter needle.

1) Where can there 'needles' be acquired.
2) How are they made in length? 1 foot, 2 foot, or what?
3) Are these expenxive?
4) Do you agree that 1/8 inch would be enough after pounding and shaping?

Smithy impaired,
Alec the Smart... enough to not fish in a lightning storm!!!
