Excuse please, I'm just catching the tail of this thread - but had to
put in my 2c.
I had(/have) "atypical migraines"; what finally worked after years of
everything from Anacin in great quantities (w/Mountain Dew, for the
caffeine) to Vicodin, a doctor prescribed a blood-pressure medication -
note, I didn't have high blood pressure - but it has worked great as
both a preventative and a "fixit" if one starts. You might ask your
doctor about that possibility (the stuff I use is Catapres), and as
usual, YMMV.
