On the late news on WSB (ABC) tonight they had a brief story on the
discovery of a "500-year old" fossilized banana found at an archeological dig
in Suffolk. They mentioned that the discovery pushed back the banana's first
known appearance by more than 100 years.

I thought this might be of interest to the list, as the banana subject comes
up regularly
