First of all, A mead is made of honey rather then sugar.
Second of all, screwing on the top to a glass bottle is asking for big time
explosion.
Try using a balloon for an air lock. It will expand
and when it gets to the point of breaking, you will
probably need to rack the mead again
Thirdly, regular yeast will leave an aftertaste. If you have a brewery supply
store or
even a hobby store, they maybe able to order yeast
for you.
